Statistics / 2 = Happy

Miracle: My statistics test took half as long as I thought it would.
Miracle: I became friends with someone who previously intimidated me.
Miracle: I practiced everything that I have been procrastinating.
Miracle: I am getting better at the guitar!
Miracle: The sun was beautiful and the sky was clear.

Revelation, Heroes, Friends and Family

I received personal revelation today during church. I felt the Lord telling me that any time someone was entrusted in my stewardship, I should go beyond the minimum for helping them. Go the extra mile, do more than what's expected. I went visiting teaching after church, and was given the opportunity to do just that. The Lord keeps giving me answers just hours (or minutes [like my "Patience is the key to success" answer]) before I need them. That is a wonderful miracle.

I was carried by my dear friend across a giant snow bank, so I wouldn't have to walk through the snow myself. =)

I visited a friend I've had since Kindergarten, and we can still laugh together just as hard as we used to.

I have the cutest little siblings ever. And there's nothing better than a child expressing pure, innocent and simple love.

All Better

Miracle that DID happen today: Swing dancing in the kitchen! Even better! As well as in the living room. Life is great.

Miracle: I cooked a delicious omelet.
Miracle: I have a friend who is patient and caring enough to teach me to cook.

The absence in writing is due to the mission I served in Florida. I'm so grateful I went! In the words of my new dear friend Ryan:

"We weren't talking about miracles - we were living 'em."

Home = Who You Are

Went to a sweet Relief Society enrichment night. Our speaker talked about creating a happy home. And by "happy home" she meant a "happy me," basically. Because you can't change anyone else. One of my favorite parts was when she talked about living in "inverse paranoia." If something looks like it's going to turn it bad, assume it's something good instead. We'll be right more often when we assume things are good than we will assuming they are bad.

Perhaps I'll share more thoughts about that later. That sounded a lot plainer than it did when I heard it. I'll give stories as I try to implement it. More on this later.

Hymns

BTW, just quickly wanted to share the third verse of the children's song "Nephi's Courage." We sang it the other day in ward choir, and I realized how applicable it was, and then it was something I needed to work on a little.  I could use a little more courage when I'm discouraged. I need to remember that I've just gotta start working, and the Lord will provide a way when there seemingly isn't one. I can't just sit and wait. Like in Elder Bednar's talk where he mentioned that our actions after we say "amen" are consecrated as a continuation of that prayer. See Elder Bednar's talk on this page.

One last comment: I love music, and I love God for letting us bring music with us to this world, and also for the way He continues to give us more and more of it. I'm so grateful for inspired music. I'm excited to share our hymns when I teach, like Sister Anderson does.

Led by a prophet

Wow! We truly do have a prophet in this day and age. And he's awesome.  Here's a link to what he said, and what our other leaders shared with us this past weekend. All of them are truly inspired. We are led by God, through His prophet, Thomas S. Monson.

 

You would think that with the amount of time you haven't heard from me, I'd be a lot closer to being prepared for my mission. It...depends how you look at it. I still haven't gone shopping.  But hopefully I've grown in leaps and bounds as a person. I feel like I've been stretched more than I've ever been before. But if there was no stretching, there would be no improvement. And I need improvement. So...no complaining here! (At least, that's the goal.)  =)

 

This Thursday is my last day at work.  After that I'll have 33 days in which to finish preparing. And then...on I'll go! First on to Provo, then Orlando. Strange they both end with "o"s.  Hmm...
