Why My 2011 Was Epic

  • I truly thoughtfully considered getting married.
  • I made one of the hardest decisions I've had to make so far in my life.
  • I grew closer to God, and felt Him with me.
  • I got a B in Anatomy. From Andy. In an 18 credit semester. During one of the more traumatic emotional semesters of my life. I'll consider that epic.
  • I learned how to paint and do other construction-like things.
  • I named a new constellation. (Ask Ryan.)
  • I rode on the back of a motorcycle through Logan Canyon at over a hundred miles per hour. (Ask Richard.)
  • I drove a 1970-something Camaro.
  • I waded through a freezing river. (Ask Mariska.)
  • I hiked the Crimson Trail.
  • I hiked to the Wind Caves.
  • I hiked to Naomi Peak, the highest point in Cache Valley.
  • I rock-climbed in the dark.
  • I got to visit Florida with Stephanie and Tim, to visit the wonderful people I met while I was serving a mission, including and especially Lisa. I was able to be there for her wedding.
  • I swam in the Atlantic Ocean.
  • I went to DisneyWorld.
  • I saw the Gulf of Mexico.
  • I experienced five airplane flights.
  • I went geo-caching.
  • I played in The Messiah for the eighth time.
  • I finished the Old Testament.
  • I ran four 5Ks and a 10K. A big thank you to Ryan for getting me started!
  • I got a 30 minute time on my fifth 5K. A big thank you to Terryn for keeping me going!
  • My sister got married.
  • I rode a taxi in Phoenix.
  • I rode a Greyhound for 22 hours!
  • I learned to ice skate a whole lot better, and skated backward. Kind of. A big thanks to Joseph!
  • I rode a horse!!
  • I saw the Nashville Tribute Band perform twice.
  • I survived my first semester of music therapy practicum, and survived pretty well.
  • I kept my scholarship, through two of the most stressful semesters ever.
  • I've become friends with my professors.
  • I got to meet and serve the Lord with some of the best girls ever, namely Tanya, Aubree, and Gretchen.
  • I made exceptional new friends that have been kind, happy, and genuine.
  • I've started thinking for myself much more than before.
  • An important family relationship has improved dramatically.
  • I've learned a lot about myself, both positive and negative.
  • I've felt God's love.
  • I've felt God's rebukes.
  • I lived through it, and I'm still smiling now. =)
